Why We March Bare for Our Forests
These intact landscapes represent some of our last, best places. But without immediate legislative action, they face unprecedented threat. We cannot let this happen.
Join us, on Friday August 22nd (7:00PM-(9:30PM), for a unique protest under the new moon to stand against clear-cutting deforestation in Oregon's precious wild spaces. This clothing optional hike combines body positivity with environmental activism, honoring both our natural selves and our natural world.
Meet at Lower Macleay Park
We'll start and end our moonlit journey here. Remember to stay clothed until you pass the Thurman Street bridge!
What to Bring:
- Flashlights or headlamps
- Sturdy hiking shoes (yes, even if nothing else!)
- Water bottle
- Your voice for the forest
The Legislative Battle for Oregon's Forests
Oregon's 2 million acres of Roadless Areas face a critical moment. While the Trump administration plans to eliminate the Roadless Rule - opening beloved places like the Metolius River, Lost Lake, Oregon Dunes, Mount Hebo, and the Upper Hood River Valley to destructive logging and development - Congress has the power to act.
The Roadless Area Conservation Act (RACA) would protect these critical public lands from the administration's plans. This legislation would ensure that these intact landscapes continue to provide clean drinking water, shelter fish and wildlife, and offer quiet wild recreation for communities like Bend, Eugene, and Salem.
Without protection, these mature and old-growth forests become prime targets for a 25% increase in logging on public lands. When roadless areas are opened to commercial logging, they become fragmented, degraded, and four times more vulnerable to wildfire.
Take Action: Contact Your Representatives
Great News for Oregonians! Both Senator Ron Wyden and Senator Jeff Merkley already support the Roadless Area Conservation Act! If you live in Oregon, please call their offices to thank them for their leadership on protecting our forests.
Senator Wyden: (503) 326-7525 (Portland) | (202) 224-5244 (DC)
Senator Merkley: (503) 326-3386 (Portland) | (202) 224-3753 (DC)
Representatives Andrea Salinas and Suzanne Bonamici also support RACA, along with Governor Tina Kotek. But we need ALL of Oregon's delegation to stand strong and encourage their colleagues nationwide to join them.

Sample Calling Script for House Representatives:
"Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I'm a constituent from [YOUR CITY]. I'm calling to urge [Representative NAME] to support the Roadless Area Conservation Act, House Bill 3930.
Oregon's 2 million acres of roadless areas provide clean drinking water to our communities, protect wildlife habitat, and offer recreation opportunities. The Trump administration's plans to eliminate the Roadless Rule would open these precious landscapes to logging and development, making them four times more vulnerable to wildfire.
Both of Oregon's Senators, Wyden and Merkley, already support this critical legislation. The Roadless Area Conservation Act would protect these public lands for future generations. I urge [Representative NAME] to co-sponsor this legislation and vote yes when it comes to the floor.
Can I count on [Representative NAME] to support RACA? Thank you."
Sample Script to Thank Oregon's Senators:
"Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I'm a constituent from [YOUR CITY]. I'm calling to thank [Senator Wyden/Senator Merkley] for supporting the Roadless Area Conservation Act, House Bill 3930.
Oregon's roadless areas are precious to our state, providing clean water, wildlife habitat, and recreation opportunities. I'm grateful that [Senator NAME] understands the importance of protecting these 2 million acres from logging and development.
Please encourage your colleagues in other states to support RACA as well. Thank you for your leadership on this critical issue."
Tips: Be polite, speak slowly, and ask for their position. If they say they'll "look into it," ask for a timeline to follow up.
Protest Slogans & Signs
Feel free to bring signs with messages like:
- People should be bare, not forests
- Bare bodies, lush forests!
- Clean & cut, not clear-cut!
- Show your wood, save the woods
- Bare your peaks and valleys to save bears, peaks, and valleys!
- You need trees to dance naked in the trees
- Support RACA - Roadless Areas Conservation Act
- Protect Oregon's 2 million roadless acres
- Thank you Wyden & Merkley!
Together, we'll make our voices heard for Oregon's wild places. Because some things are too precious to cut down - our forests, and our right to protest freely under the open sky.
